How did storm chaser Matt Hughes die? - Health Jackal

How Did Matt Hughes Die? The unfortunate death of “Storm Chasers” Matt Hughes shocked fans of the Discovery show on the November 3 episode that the meteorologist and longtime storm chaser had died. The episode, which chronicled Hughes’ final chase, was dedicated to his memory — and was aptly titled “Dedication.”

Matt Hughes died aged 30, May 26th, 2010 in Wichita, Kansas due to an injury unrelated to his chasing activities. On his death he left behind a wife Kendra and two sons, Hunter and Collin.

Although it has not been confirmed Hughes was said to have been dealing with a lot of personal issues and emotional conflicts. A friend of Hughes posted a blog saying that the brave man was suffering from depression. Domestic issues were piling up, and Hughes was only human.

Back in May Blogger Kake writes, “Matt Hughes, was taken to the hospital after trying to take his life. This sentence is still hard to explain and even more difficult to express on a computer screen. Matt was in the hospital for several days in intensive care, there was a 24 hour vigil outside the waiting room, family, other chasers, business associates, etc.”

Hughes is known for running the “Dog House” vehicle which is seen accompanying the ‘Tornado Intercept vehicle on the Storm chasers many adventures.

10 Episodes of Storm Chaser will be dedicated to his behalf as Discovery Channel said, “his incredible last chase and is dedicated to his memory.” They will give the title episodes with “Dedication”. The show will relive Hughes’ experiences on the show and highlight his intellegence and contributions to television. Discovery Channel’s official website posted some of the late Meteorologist’s photos, remembering his contributions to the show. matt-hudghes-storm-chaser-dead
